Riding The Bus In New York City Is Prestigious

by Peter Smith

If you read the bloggernets, you’ve seen this claim, or something very similar to it, myriad times — most often in the comments section of blog posts discussing buses vs. real transit. To it, I can only offer my honest, heartfelt two-worded reply:

Bull. Shit.

Carry on.

  1. Miguel Marcos Says:

Sheesh, presitigious has nothing to do with NYC buses. If you’re concerned with getting somewhere reliably you take the subway, period.

I will admit taking buses occasionally when I had lots of time on my hands.

  2. I’ve observed that in New York there are rich people who ride the bus, and people who prefer it to the train. I’ve never made a blanket statement about it being prestigious in general. I’ve also never suggested that it’s not a pain in the ass.

Is there someone else who says it’s prestigious? I’d be interested to see.
