$5,000 Reward For Hit And Run Suspect
In an earlier post, we linked to the story of Bay Area cyclist, Mark Pendleton, who was struck down by an outlaw motorist - now there’s a reward:
MARTINEZ — Martinez city officials are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the hit-and-run driver who killed a Martinez bicyclist Monday evening.
Meanwhile, a memorial service and bicycle ride will be held Saturday for the victim, Mark Pendleton.
Pendleton, 49, was struck sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m. Monday as he rode on McEwen Road, a half-mile north of Highway 4 (Ed: estimate), by a driver who remains at large.
“He’s a Martinez resident and belongs to a Martinez bicycle club,” police Chief Tom Simonetti said. “The (city) council and the city thought it would be a good idea to help the CHP to solve the case.”
California Highway Patrol investigators have determined that he was riding southbound when a northbound dark-colored truck or sport utility vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck him.
Debris left behind at the scene, including a broken headlamp, matched that of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, or possibly a GMC Yukon or Suburban, CHP Officer Scott Yox said.
Let’s see if we can find this criminal. I hope the cycling club can put together a local effort - maybe plaster the nearby downtowns with flyers. Below are some pictures to give you an idea of types of vehicles we’re looking for.
Chevy Silverado (2009):

GMC Tahoe (2007):

GMC Suburban (1999):
