Police Bicycle Struck By Car, No Injuries

I don’t think the officer was actually on the bike when it got hit - there were no injuries:

(11-10) 22:59 PST San Francisco — A motorist was arrested tonight following a high-speed car chase through San Francisco - from the Tenderloin to Visitacion Valley - that left two police cars and a police bicycle damaged, police said.

The incident began when police attempted to detain the unidentified motorist at O’Farrell and Leavenworth streets around 7:45 p.m.

The suspect sped off, driving directly toward officers and striking a police bicycle. Officers gave pursuit and followed the car to San Bruno Avenue and Mansell Street, where the suspect was arrested.

There were no injuries, police said.

I’m guessing that being on bikes really helps some officers stay closer to the action on the streets of the Tenderloin. But it definitely seems like they need to have backup officers in squad cars, because many of the dealers roll through in their cars and SUVs.
