Interview with Enrique Peñalosa

by Peter Smith

This interview with the creator of the Bogota BRT system, Transmilenio - someone who is also ‘a bike/walk revolutionary’ (my description) - is informative and inspiring. In it, Enrique Peñalosa suggests that the Mayor and Councilpersons of New York do something daring - that they take big risks - that only a few parked cars would be replaced and that the amount of political goodwill that can come from making New York a more livable place is underestimated. He also puts in a good word for trams (rail), which I liked.  :)

In short, this is the type of thinking we should be doing. We should be challenging ourselves to dream big - to take big risks - to demand more for ourselves and our city.
