Warning: Robberies and Stalking Around Caltrain, Palo Alto
First, the robberies that are occuring near the California Ave. Caltrain:
Palo Alto police have increased patrols in response to a rash of strong-arm robberies near the California Avenue Caltrain station in the past month, a police spokesman said today.
Police believe the same man is responsible for three such robberies since Sept. 8. The most recent occurred Sunday night.
The Cal Ave. Caltrain stop (the de-facto ‘Stanford stop’ when the regular Stanford stop is not operating, because it is not game day) always has lots of bikers. I used to be one of them. Is it odd that there is absolutely no description of the suspect, or of events surrounding the robberies?
The stalking is beyond creepy, definitely scary:
Police said Wednesday that three 12-year-old girls have reported separate incidents in which a man inside a white van followed them as they walked or rode their bikes in Palo Alto.
The incidents occurred on three consecutive Thursday afternoons, Palo Alto police agent Dan Ryan said.
One girl said that on Sept. 18, a white box van followed her near the 1400 block of Edgewood Drive. A week later, another girl reported a similar vehicle followed her near the intersection of Channing and Melville avenues. The third incident took place last Thursday near the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue, police said.
Again, we’re short on details of the suspect.
Be careful out there, and let’s look out for each other.
