One good thing about people leaving the Bay Area is that they can infect their future homes with a little of that Bay Area bike madness. I don’t know much about modern art or Christo, but it seems he’s still riding his bicycle in Pittsburgh:
“Listening,” a vibrant green and red piece in this show, was inspired by music in the ballet. Like that painting, not all of the pieces in the show draw inspiration from nature. “Riding,” which looks like bicycle track through a shimmering silver puddle, was the result of just that, the artist literally riding his bicycle over the painting.
Good luck in your new home, Christo! I hear that the bike folks in Pittsburgh are really starting to make things happen.
