Ever thought of becoming a bike blogger? Well, we need your help. The pay is minimal, but the work is rewarding.

We really believe that having a world class bicycle blog network is crucial to speed along bicycle infrastructure. Bikers need to organize, and this is one way of doing that. Each city or town that wants a bike blog should have one - and it should include built-in Forum software so we can promote folks working together outside the context of the blog. The blog will provide a vital news and information service, but it will only be a part of the overall solution. Our model for success will be in providing the type of bicycle news coverage provided at blogs like BikePortland.org and StreetsBlog.org.

We want to cover all the general bike news that relates to a town, and then expand that to include other aspects of the Livable Streets movement, as time permits.

More details:

  1. Each story will be proofread, at least, and possibly edited for typos, fact checks, double-checking that any images are properly cited, etc.
  2. Blogging expertise is not specifically required, though it might make getting an assesment of your writing skills a bit difficult. If you have integrity and bike passion, though, we’ll work with you. BikeBlogs.org will take care of all the technology stuff so you can concentrate on writing and getting more people on bikes.

Why would you want to invest your time blogging for BikeBlogs.org?

  1. You’ll be making a difference.
  2. You’ll make some spare coin (not much, but something), with a small honorarium.
  3. You get your own profile page where you can link to your own blog/website, interests, etc.
  4. You’ll have a great outlet for your bike passion.
  5. Cover interesting stories, and meet interesting people.
  6. Work with people who really really love bikes.
  7. You may have more readers than you ever had before. And your readers will be into bikes. Really into bikes.
  8. You’ll learn and grow as a person and writer/blogger/journalist.

If any questions, or if you’d like to express interest in blogging with BikeBlogs.org, please email us — we’re eager to hear from you!
