You\’ll Never Ride Alone

F.A.Q.

1. Who started this site?

Peter Smith, with the help and encouragement of lots of folks.

2. What is the purpose of this site?

We feel like every town deserves a great online resource, a ‘virtual town hall’, for bikey people. If we can do our part to help inform, motivate, and organize ourselves and other bikers, then that’s what we’re aiming for.

3. What’s the end game?

Save the world by bicycle, of course. :)

Seriously, though, there are several possible intermediate steps, and having some major corporation come in and buy out the whole blog network would be a possibility, I suppose, but we currently anticipate the need for this network to last a solid fifty years, unfortunately. There is no formal organization behind the blog network and as long as we’re not making any money, there really does not need to be (I don’t think). If we decided to chase a grant, then forming a non-profit would probably be necessary. The ideal scenario would be:

  1. bikeblogs.org launches.
  2. sf.bikeblogs.org launches.
  3. 30 more cities/towns launch.
  4. We are able to find bike bloggers for all of them, and they all do great work.
  5. We start finding a way to make money - somehow. Advertising, sponsorships, grants, etc.
  6. We make enough money to cover expenses and then start paying for other niceties, like paying a small honoraria to all of our bloggers.
  7. Continue indefinitely.

4. How can I help?

We need readers, and bloggers, and advertisers, and any ideas you can think of that will help us serve your community better.

5. You didn’t answer my question.

Sorry - please email us, and we’ll get back to you as fast as we can.
